Research is Nyabag's design research mode. Describe what you're looking for, and it plans its own searches across your saved library and the Inspo catalog, then returns grouped references with their palettes and fonts, plus a short summary that cites each one.

How Research works

  1. Describe it, or show it

    Type up to 500 characters, or add a screenshot of up to 5 MB. Choose your library, Inspo or both, and whole pages or page sections.

  2. It plans the searches

    Research rewrites your request into up to 4 focused searches, each with its own label, so one vague idea gets looked at from several angles.

  3. References come back grouped

    Each group holds up to 8 references with screenshots, palettes and fonts. Duplicates across groups are removed.

  4. Check the sources, then refine

    The summary cites references by number, so you can check every claim. Ask a follow-up in the same session, and find it later in your history.

Good to know

  • Research only looks through your library and Inspo. It doesn't search the live web.
  • With few saves, results lean on Inspo, and the summary says so.
  • Research is limited to 6 runs a minute, 30 an hour and 100 a day.
  • A run can take up to a minute.

Questions

Can I use Research from my AI tool?

Yes. Research is one of the tools in Nyabag's MCP server, so ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor can run it for you. The session is saved, and you can open it in the app.

Can I search with a screenshot?

Yes. Add a PNG, JPEG or WebP image of up to 5 MB, and Research uses it to find references that look alike.

Can I save what it finds?

Yes. Save a single reference or a whole group to a library. You can also ask for more like a card, or see a design brief for a group.

How is this different from search?

Search finds what you remember saving. Research starts from a question: it plans several searches, groups the results and writes a cited summary, including sites you've never saved.
